Leadership Work
Along with men and boys of color work, leadership is a central component to the collaborative work that JAG engages in. JAG collaborates to build more synchronicity in its partners leadership work and initiatives and to develop new programming that represents the perspectives of all partners. It is also working with partners to reframe the concept of leadership.
JAG's leadership work plans for 2012 include:
"JAG University" Virtual Meetings
During 2012, JAG plans to develop a series of three or more virtual meetings (conference calls or web seminars) tentatively titled “JAG University.” These virtual meetings will provide information and instruction on leadership to interested members of its partners and other affinity groups and to other interested philanthropy professionals. The calls or seminars may also feature JAG updates and information about JAG's men and boys of color work as its new, cutting-edge joint analysis is created.
Brochure and Event Listing
During 2012, JAG is developing a two-four page brochure (that exists online and as a hard copy) that describes and promotes partners’ leadership programs and work. It will also provide a calendar or event listing that gathers together important program dates for each partner. The brochure will also include:
- The central value(s) of each program
- An overview of programming and curricula
- Skills developed
- Profiles of top alumni and leaders developed through partners' programs and work
Reframing the Concept of Leadership
Together with its partners, JAG is reframing leadership. Leadership should be a holistic concept that encompasses not only leadership development initiatives but the many ways partners and their members lead through programming, words, and community engagement. In 2012, JAG will be developing this new leadership framework and building on it.
