Nationwide Convenings Lead to Possibilities for 2012
During September and October of 2011, national JAG hosted the first-ever convenings between it and local networks of joint affinity groups in four regions of the country: the Bay Area, LA, NY, and the Twin Cities.
The four convenings have developed several follow-up opportunities to build stronger connections in 2012. National JAG intends to develop liaisons between it and local groups, coordinate one or more joint conference calls, and potentially share resources and other information through the JAG website.
The convenings occurred:
- September 13 (San Francisco): Between 20-25 attendees
- September 15 (Los Angeles): About 10-12 attendees
- September 26 (New York): Between 20-25 attendees
- October 11 (Minneapolis): About 10-12 attendees
Regional associations have been connecting the local JAG groups in Los Angeles and Minneapolis. In both areas, the convening was conducted in collaboration with the regional associations as part of their local JAG agenda. In New York and San Francisco, national JAG played a connecting role and organized the meeting in collaboration with local volunteers, which also included the local regional associations (and the New York City-area regional association, Philanthropy NY, provided meeting space).
Planning to develop further possibilties for connections will occur during the first and second quarter of 2012. These plans will appear on the JAG website as they emerge.
