Our Work
JAG focuses on advancing, aligning, and activating work that pursues more equity for diverse communities. JAG currently does so by engaging in the following projects or capacities:
Ongoing Coordination and Communication
JAG offers a venue for its six partners to coordinate work through discussion and planning. JAG also provides a forum for partners to develop and communicate shared messages about equity to the field.
Men and Boys of Color (MBOC)
Work that spotlights the needs of men and boys of color (MBOC) and influences grantmakers to make appropriate responses is a primary focus of JAG's collaborative work for 2012 and beyond. JAG is coordinating partners' work, serving as a clearinghouse for MBOC resources, and advancing collaborative programming. Four of our six partners are also individually engaging in the work. More
Leadership Work
Along with men and boys of color work, leadership is a central component to the collaborative work that JAG engages in. JAG collaborates to build more synchronicity in its partners' leadership work and initiatives and to develop new programming that represents the perspectives of all partners. It is also working with partners to reframe the concept of leadership. More
Local JAG Networks
JAG is a national network of identity-based affinity groups. However, there are other, independent networks of identity-based affinity groups that are also called Joint Affinity Groups but operate on the local level with no formal connection with national JAG. Since fall 2011, national JAG has been conducting outreach to the local networks. More
D5 Partnership
JAG is a lead partner in the D5 coalition, a five-year initiative to grow philanthropy’s diversity, equity, and inclusion. JAG chairs D5’s flagship publication, the State of the Work report, and co-chairs work on leadership and other priorities. More
