Leadership Work

Along with men and boys of color work, leadership is a central component to the collaborative work that JAG engages in. JAG collaborates to build more synchronicity in its partners leadership work and initiatives and to develop new programming that represents the perspectives of all partners. It is also working with partners to reframe the concept of leadership.

JAG's leadership work plans for 2012 and beyond include:

A Resource Listing

During 2012, JAG is developing a listing (existing on the website and as a downloadable document) that shares access to resources and tools related to the leadership work of JAG partners and other organizations with similar philosophies. The listing will continue to evolve as the work evolves.

Brochure and Event Listing

During 2012, JAG is developing a two-four page brochure (existing online and as a hard copy) that describes and promotes partners’ leadership programs and work. It will also provide a calendar or event listing that gathers together important program dates for each partner. The brochure will also include:

  • The central value(s) of partner's work to build leadership
  • An overview of partners' professional development programs
  • A listing of top accomplishments
  • Skills developed through programming and work

Reframing the Concept of Leadership

Together with its partners, JAG is reframing leadership. Leadership should be a holistic concept that encompasses not only leadership development initiatives but the many ways partners and their members lead through programming, words, and community engagement. In 2012, JAG will be developing this new leadership framework and building on it.

"JAG University" Virtual Meetings

JAG is planning a concept called JAG University. It will consist of a series of virtual meetings (conference calls or web seminars) that provide information or instruction based on the JAG concept of leadership. Plans are still in development, but may launch in late 2012 or in 2013. Stay tuned.
